Memory Lane….

Just as I was getting ready for bed a friend of mine called me on iChat. If I wanted to contribute to the latest article on a particular website. “What article?” Well, it turned out Steve Jobs had resigned as CEO. WOW! It just took my breath away for a moment. Of course from January this year, his tasks were being executed by Tim Cook due to the fact that Steve’s ill. But still, what a moment in time. An end of an (second) era which brought us the iMac, OS X, iPod, iPhone, iOS and iPad. Devices and software which really changed the way we use our stuff daily. I remember sitting down behind the first Apple Macintosh I ever worked with. My boss said: “This is your computer and this is how you turn it on, for the rest? See and explore for yourself!” And really that is still the way to use your Mac or your iOS device. I’ve seen a lot of keynotes and productlaunches done by Steve. Even if you’re not an Apple fan, just watch him present this stuff and “BOOM” you’re infected. He (and of course the rest of the Apple employees) changed the world. Mind you, Steve’s not dead, he will be “chairman Of The Board” and Apple employee and I’m sure they will still consult him on some matters. So here’s to Steve:

Here’s to the crazy one.
The misfit.
The rebel.
The troublemaker.
The round peg in the square hole.
The one who sees things differently.
He’s not fond of rules.
And he has no respect for the status quo.
You can quote him, disagree with him, glorify or vilify him.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore him.
Because he changes things.
He pushes the human race forward.
And while some may see him as a crazy one, we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough
to think they can change the world,
are the ones who do.

Cheers Steve! I really hope you get well and I know that the folks at Apple will make stuff that’s “Insanely great!”

Edit: Thanx to my good Apple/Adobe friend Peter V. who did a nice suggestion about the “poem” 😉
